Capturing a Story
Taking photos that don’t need context. Visually tell the story.

Behind every photoshoot, there needs to be goals. I like to have two.
1.) Tell a story.
2.) Showcase a product.
With this photoshoot I was needing to promote this outdoor space. I needed to show that it was the ideal location for good times.
This makes for an easy story. Friends that are having a good time! (No need to over complicate things, amirite?!)

The plan begins. I have zero, zip, NADA, no budget for this shoot. Just some beer and food from the location and some product that also needed to be advertised.
So I needed a group that naturally was willing to just hang-out, play some games, that was ready to be in some photos! (bribing with delicious beer sure does help in this situation 😋) Luckily I had a good contact for this group and it was game on!

I like to think of the vibe as a large element of the story. This was key to making this shoot a success. My talent arrived at the location, I got the music bumping, the drinks flowing, food ordered, and games set. We start joking around before I even think about taking out my camera to get the crew loosened up and feeling comfortable. The food arrives, and we’re off to the races! Friends are having a great time enjoying food, and I’m rolling shutters like their the last photos to ever be documented. Before we know it, the suns going down and we had ourselves a successful photoshoot.
